20 Things that drive me crazy! (in no particular order) 1. Crunches are a waste of time (abs are made in the kitchen!). 2. There is no muscle stimulator you can place on your stomach that gives you a six pack. 3. Milk (comercial)won’t make you skinny or make your bones stronger for that matter… 4. Cereal for breakfast is NOT the breakfast of champions 5. Those Brazilian weight loss pills are going to kill someone. 6. Infomercials are scams but damn that Tony Little guy is a rich man… 7. Aerobics doesn’t work but cardio sure does? 8. If you only have time for cardio or weights always choose WEIGHTS! 9. WHOLE Eggs are excellent for you! The yolk is where the nutrients are found. 10. Sweat and exhaustion doesn’t equate to fat loss (I hate SPINNING!) 11. Soy makes you fat! 12. Get off the elliptical machine! Unless you’ve recently had knee surgery. It’s too darn easy! 13. When I first met Lourdes her lack of energy wouldn’t allow her to leave her own home. She was driving her car to pick up her mail and throw garbage in the dumpster. Needless to say she was feeling depressed and hopeless, she had hit her bottom. My first training session with Lourdes lasted 15 min! It was literally a walk around the block and we had to stop to let her catch her breath numerous times. Today Lourdes is feeling more energy than ever! She is walking daily, running errands and she’s even climbing steps without getting dizzy and feeling the need to get a breather. She is lifting weights, boxing, pulling sleds, pushing prowlers and walking on treadmills with an incline. She is living her life! Lourdes was becoming a slave to her lifestyle. She is now happier than ever and loves how her body feels and how her body is transforming. This testimonial is the reason I do what I do! It’s absolutly amazing what exercise and proper nutrition can do to a persons health. It’s not as hard as people make it out to be… Lourdes had never trained a day in her life and now for the first day in her life she is in control of her health. She has made a lifestyle change! We still have work to do and it’s going to be a long road but how lucky am I to have the opportunity to partake in this journey with my friend Lourdes. Check out the exercise section for more video’s featuring Lourdes. We can all watch together as her body transforms and she enters this new part of her life.
I’ve said it a thousand times! If you put the right fuel in your body at the right times you can achieve optimal health. Let me ask you a question. If you put diesel fuel in a car that is supposed to take Supreme, do you think your car will ride at full potential? Hopefully your answer is NO. So can you expect your own body to run any different? Food is thy medicine. In order for the human body to perform at high levels it requires an optimal amount of nutrient dense foods. I’m not talking about convienance foods like the candy machine, or that Lean Cuisine frozen dinner. I’m talking about those foods found in the perimeter of your local grocery store or farmers market. These are the food that are closest to it’s natural state. These are foods that havn’t been tainted by man. Foods that have no flavor enhancers, colorings, additives and perservatives. These foods are colorful and full of life! These foods are the prefered “fuel” for the most important vehicle that you own. Your body. Stop treating your body like a garbage can! You only get one and don’t forget that.
Wow, this guy is truely ahead of his time. This video aired on national TV in 1959! His 10 habits are extremely similar to the lessons that I teach my own clients. I can only imagine where Americans would be today if they would’ve applied just half of what Jack preaches in this 3 min video. The SAD( Standard American Diet) has ravaged the United States! Just look at what Jacks habits have done for him. He’s still alive and at 92 he’s in better shape than probaly 99% of the American population. If you won’t listen to me preach than atleast listen to Jack!
Culture & Carbohydrates By Dr. Jonny Bowden, MA, CN, CNS Q. If high-carb diets have so many problems, why is it that in cultures where they eat so many carbs (i.e. Japanese, French) they seem to have no problems maintaining healthy weight and they continue to blow us out of the water with their low heart disease risk? Sincerely, Kazuo Chirac Answer: First of all, they’re not “blowing us out of the water” anymore. In these countries, there are rising rates of all the conventional problems- diabetes, obesity and heart disease- in all the countries you mention to which you can add China. (India has the highest rates of diabetes). Two, look at the whole picture. Many cultures that have lower rates of heart disease have higher rates of cancer. Three, it’s not just that they “eat carbs.” They have entirely different lifestyles from the average North American. For example: the French don’t eat between meals and they prepare most of their meals by hand using wholesome fresh ingredients. Until recently, France didn’t have fast food. What’s more, they traditionally eat tiny portions, have a much healthier attitude about food in general and stress over it a lot less than we do, drinking a glass or two of red wine a day, and walking about ten times more than we do.
The Top Five Ways To Lower Testosterone By Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS Nutrition Director, Poliquin Performance Center Years ago, I read an interesting article on fat loss in a nationally known, health-oriented magazine. The reporter had the unique idea that it would be really cool to follow around someone who was a complete expert at gaining fat. Then, all you’d do was watch what they did and do the opposite. Voila – a prescription for fat loss! So, they followed around some Sumo wrestlers. Sure enough, these guys knew how to pack on pounds. For one thing, they’d skip breakfast. Then they’d train, eat a huge meal and take a nap. Finally, after the evening workout, they’d completely pig out on McDonald’s then go to sleep. They were strong as oxen but they needed assistants to wash their backs cause they couldn’t reach around their own 400-pound girth. This got me thinking. If you want to lower testosterone, look at the things we know that are guaranteed to raise it, then do the opposite.
As seen in the Precision Nutrition Recipe book which comes with my nutrition program. How many times have you heard people recommend eating cottage cheese before bed because casein (the protein in cottage cheese) is digested slowly, feeding those hungry muscles during your nocturnal dream quest? In theory, this sounds great. In practice, spooning those curds down your gullet can be rather bland or down righ disgusting, depending on your tolerance for cottage cheese. Put your worries behind you because we have not only divised a way to make cottage cheese taste great, but we’ve also added a healthy dose of essential fatty-acids from peanuts and flax, together with fiber to ensure that everything is absorbed at glacial speed duing the wee hours of the night. I personally love this recipe and eat it probaly 3x a week. Give it a try and let me know what you think. If you’re looking for more quick, convienant and tasty recipes similar to this than go to the Nutrition Program page and purchase the book! This recipe is truly designed for the tired and weary who want noghin todo with a complex recipe that requires cooking and cleaning. We’ve made it simple – grab a bowl and a spoon, put a everything in it, and stir until you have a smooth texture. Oh yeah, spoon it in your mouth. INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese 2 tbsp flax meal 1 tbsp natural peanut butter 1 scoop chocolate whey protein Add Stevia or Splenda to tast( I don’t add anything and it tastes great!)
I always tell my clients, “eat like the food pyramid than prepare to be shaped liked the food pyramid”. It’s not that diffucult! Americans are just too lazy… Forget the food pyramid, look where thats gotten us thus far. Grains, Grains and more grains! Do you know what they feed cattle to fatten them up? Grains. What makes you think that grains will have any other effect on your body? Oh, I know the box of cereal says it lowers your cholesterol… Oh ,and it has 100% of the RDA vitamins and minerals… Don’t forget about that fiber and all that iron. Great marketing huh? Why do think you see more comercials and marketing for grains than fruits, vegetables and meat products? I’ll tell you why, because grains are cheap. Cereal is also not only fortified with vitamins and minerals but it’s almost always fortified with another cheap product called SUGAR. Don’t forget that other product that everyone is talking about these days… Does High Fructose Corn Syrup ring a bell? Well, that’s just another name for you guessed it, SUGAR. These are the so-called health foods that our government is marketing towards your kids. Cereal companies arn’t spending money on there product. They are spending money on marketing there product to your kids! There isn’t anything healthy or nutritious about cereal! I know, I know, you eat only Cheerio’s. Well thats not much better. As Jack will tell you we should be consuming a protein rich breakfast. As a matter of fact we should be consuming protein at every feeding opportunity. Listen to Jack as he gives you a meal by meal template to create that temple of a body that you’ve always wanted.
Word to the wise, don’t believe everything you see. It’s a real shame that magazine covers and TV/movie stars have such a strong influence on our society especially young women. I can’t even imagine the pressure our kids have these days trying to fit in and maintain a so called skinny “model” look. These Hollywood Images our exactly what’s spawned the broken self imagines, low self esteems and growing eating disorders that our plaqing our society. Hopefully the video below will show you that not everything you see is as it appears.
